All caps should be metal or copper better yet because the masonry cracks on top of them and that starts the downfall of the whole flu.

Not too many can afford copper caps, Carl. Not unless it is a high end home where money is no object.

And most caps that I have seen are always done improper and should look like this, but are usually done with a mortar and all cracked.
